Firstly, if your in America on a surfing holiday your first stop should really be Cocoa Beach in Florida. This beach is home to some classic breaks but you have to make sure your trip is timed right. If your heading here in summer then chances are you’ll catch a great tan but you shouldn’t hold out much hope of catching any great waves. Visit in winter however and it will be a different story. The weather in winter is a lot more reliable and can often produce steady waves of around 10ft. The beach is very safe and has a great party atmosphere all year round so its perfect for beginners and those just looking to have a good time. The best waves can been found between Nov-Mar
Secondly, it would be criminal not to visit the iconic place where surfing was born. Hawaii has long been known as a surfing paradise. Mainly because it’s home to some of the best and largest waves on earth but also because it embraces surfing so openly. It’s so steeped in surfing history that you could easily spend your whole time on your Hawaii holidays, cycling around on the traditional second hand bikes, visiting historic sites, talking to locals about the good old days when surfboards were made out of wood, or checking out the thousands of surfboards on sale. Well, maybe not the whole time, you need to save some to check out the 20ft waves at Oahu or the miles and miles of beautiful surf at Ehukai Beach and Waimea Beach. Pure Heaven
Last but not certainly not least, no American surf holiday would be complete without experiencing the “surf city” of the USA, Huntington, which funnily enough is also known for the snowboards they produce.The sun never goes down on this area and its attracts top surfers like bees to honey. Some of surfing’s biggest stars hang out here a lot and you’ll be sure to catch one of the many surfing comps that take place frequently.It can get a little on the busy side however, there were eleven million visitors last year. So if crowds aren’t you thing, you’re better of enjoying the equally as good winter waves.
