* When you choose a topic, rely on your keyword research to direct you. If you have an exceptionally long article, break it into 2 or more shorter articles. I try to keep my articles between 400 and 800 words depending upon the topic or subject.

* Upon completion of your article, find a colleague or friend and ask them for their opinion. I currently review many of efforts with two close friends. Suggestions are freely given and changes are made. The end result is always a much high quality of article.

Hopefully, these strategies will not only improve your Internet marketing through increased traffic to your web site, but will also improve the quality of your articles and potentially start to build those relationships with future customers or clients.

For those of you who just happened to stumble onto this article and are beginning from the very beginning, I’ll begin with a brief answer to the question:  What is article spinning?

We sometimes spin articles so that we can get added benefit from the time or financial resources that we have invested into producing an excellent piece of web content.  We want to minimize the same article’s publication on too many sites, due to the fact that duplicate content will not be of any value to anyone involved.  Our prospective readers certainly don’t need to repeatedly find the same article, the websites risk getting no value from a duplicate article since the major search engines attempt to avoid showing the same article multiple times in any search results and we online marketers, in turn stand a substantially decreased liklihood of getting all the traffic or search engine optimization benefit that we might have have received from entirely fresh content. 

Spinning is simply rewriting the article, one bit of content at a time, and then using software to randomly select from the alternatives that we have written for each section to construct a large number of unique articles from our original version combined with our alternatives.  We can offer alternatives for entire paragraphs, for entire sentences, for phrases of a few words or for individual words. 

We can also place alternatives within other alternatives, using a process known as nested spinning.  As an example of this, let’s use this as my first sentence: “I love my new brown coat.”  I may decide to write two alternatives for that sentence.  One alternative might be, “I certainly enjoy the brown coat that I recently purchased.”  Another option might be to break the original into a couple sentences in this fashion:  “I have a new coat that I really enjoy.  It’s a dusty brown.”  So the computer will randomly choose one of those three alternatives for a given version of my article.

In order to use nested spinning, I give you an example using just the third alternative, although I could nest additional choices into any or all of the three options.  Let’s say that I decide to let the computer select either “really enjoy” or “like immensely.”  Furthermore, perhaps I can change “dusty brown” to “muted shade of brown” in some cases.

The more choices the spinning software has, the more versions of the same base article that are sufficiently unique (different from every other version) will be successfully generated.  (A good target is to have each version that you submit to a website be a minimum of 25% different from every other version.  I actually prefer to reach a higher standard of about 35% or more.)

Here are the two best ways to maximize your spinning efforts.

Method 1:  Rewrite each paragraph, one at a time, once.  Rewrite the first two or three paragraphs and the last paragraph a second time for each.  Now, using nesting, rewrite each sentence in each of the alternatives one time.  Next, add one more level of nesting by providing alternatives to certain words and phrases in the first two paragraphs and in the last paragraph.

Method 2:  Rewrite every sentence in the entire article one time.  Go back to the beginning of the article.  Provide one more rewritten version of each sentence in the first, second and last paragraphs.  Apply the first level nesting to selected individual words and phrases in the first three and the final paragraph.  Also provide some alternatives for selected words and phrases in those middle paragraphs.

The first approach is more thorough and will yield somewhat better results.  The second approach is faster and will usually yield satisfactory results.

One final tip:  As a rule, you achieve better results with longer articles, as the total number of alternatives (and, thus, possible unique combinations of alternatives) increases with the total number of sentences.  Of course, longer articles will also take far more time to prepare for spinning, so you need to weigh those variables in determining article length.

There is much controversy on whether keywords and keyword phrases are still needed. Here’s’ my take on this issue: Yes! Yes! Yes! Especially in Article Marketing. A niche market is a subset of the market on which a specific product is focusing on. Lets take for example we are looking for specific information about article marketing services, the most broad market would be marketing , then your niche would be article marketing . This information could also be under the broad marketing of Internet marketing but your niche would still be article marketing. My keyword list would be generated from the two words “article” and “Marketing” combined together. The bottom line here, is you need familiarize yourself with your niche market. I can’t emphasize the importance of this step, because without it you are doomed to failure. This step is a must do, that is why it is listed at #1.

#2 - Once you have identified what your niche market is you can now focus on creating your keyword phrase list. First thing I want you to do is go to Google adwords and sign up for a free account. It’s free to join and their keyword generation tools are exceptional. .

Now use the following keyword for an example by typing the following word “fishing “ into the box that says Enter one keyword or phrase per line: You will notice that the results are way to broad if I were selling information related to crappie fishing. Let be more specific and enter the keyword phrase “article marketing” , Now were talking! This phrase is not near as competitive and has 100’s of key word phrases you would start building a key word list for articles about article marketing. Of course this is only an example you could use this technique for any market. What you want to do now is download the resulting list to you PC, I always Microsoft excel to help build my lists but any software that you can store your results would work well. You will now need to prioritize and weed out phrases that are too competitive or have a very low monthly search volume, so pay close attention to the two columns in the report that have the headings “Advertiser Competition” and “Approx Search Volume:” respectively.

To determine if a phrase is too competitive look at the rectangular box right under the key word phrase under the “Advertiser Competition” column. If that green bar is over have half way across the box, delete this key word phrase from you list. Here’s a tip I use. Concentrate on words or phrases where the green bar is no more that ¼ the way across, and search volume that is greater that 1000.

Now you are ready to start writing your articles. {I recommend you just start writing what ever comes to your mind then refine your article, it’s a bit like brain storming and works for me so I can get all my ideas on paper. It has been my experience it is better to just start writing your topic and let your expertise flow into your words before you worry about inserting your key words or keyword phrases.} Concentrate on writing articles that are from 300 to 600 words. It has been my experience that that the search engines seem to like content of this size and people tend to read your entire article without getting bored. And just click on to somewhere else. Once you are finished writing, pick 2 or three of your key word phrases and read your article to see where they would fit best. Pay close attention to how many times your phrases are repeated, it is important that you space approximately 100 word counts between them. You don’t want to get penalized by the search engines for what is called keyword stuffing. Lets use the key word phrase “crappie fishing tips” I could only insert this phrase or any variation that had the exact first words every 100 words . If your article was say 600 words in length, then you could use phrases that had the exact words “article marketing “ six times. {You can mix up your keyword phrases so each word is not exactly the same but be careful. Of course if you get creative you could vary your words so they are not exact and get even more value out of this same phrase.}
