Swoopo Auctions Buzzing From the First to the Last Second
Founded in Germany in 2005, Swoopo is one of the world’s most innovative auction sites. The company sells premium products like: computers, cameras, game consoles and even cars, according to its Web site, based on a unique software solution and business model. Swoopo auctions over 10,000 products per month and has more than 1.2 million registered customers, its Web site says.
It works this way: Online customers purchase “bids” in advance. They are sold in packs of 40, 75, 150, 400 or 1,000, and cost 60 cents each. Bidders have the choice of using an electronic bid assistant called the “BidButler” or of placing single bids.
Every bid placed increases the price of the product by 12 cents and the auction countdown by up to 20 seconds. Each auction displays the amount spent on bids by the customer and how much the bidder would save overall, if they won the auction at that moment, to help the customer keep track of the money spent on bidding.
When the countdown reaches 0:00, the “last bidder standing” wins the auction — usually at a very low price. Winners save, on average, 65 percent when compared to the recommended retail price, according to the company Web site.
In December 2007, Swoopo was successfully launched in the UK, followed by Spain in May 2008 and the US and Austria in September 2008.
Swoopo is an Internet company with a unique, worldwide business model. Swoopo states it is the creator of “Entertainment Shopping” on the Internet, and, one of the first companies to combine e-commerce and entertainment. All of its auctions are buzzing from the first to the last second. Every user can get top of the range, brandname products for extraordinarily low prices, Swoopo’s Web site states.
Its Web site states that the company’s staff has the passion and ambition to carry the Swoopo idea from its origin in Munich to the rest of the world, on the way establishing the company as a major international e-commerce player.
Auctions Online
Most Internet users are aware of eBay and how it works. People put things up for sale, and auction users bid on the things they want. At the end of the auction, whoever has bid the most money wins the item. Though eBay is large and profitable, it is only one of many web auctions on the Internet. There are many online, you just have to find them.
Some sites have web auctions for just about anything you can dream of, while others specialize. There are some just for tools, and others just carry clothing, shoes, and accessories. If you can’t find something on eBay, you may find it on one of those other sites. You may also find a better price because the site is not as popular as eBay, and not as many people are bidding on the item you are looking to buy.
Some people use these smaller web auctions to find bulk items to sell for a profit on eBay. This can work if you are willing to put the time into looking for exactly what you need. You might want to study eBay to see what sells well, and the average price for each item. You can even buy higher priced items like DVD players or digital recorders to sell for a profit on eBay.
One problem with other web auctions is that it can be a bit iffier than dealing with eBay. Though these other sites may have the same rules as eBay does about above board conduct, the other sites don’t have the power behind them that eBay does. This means that if something goes wrong, you may not be able to get your money back, or the dud you bought might be something you just have to live with.
A friend of mine decided to try website auctions as a new way to make some extra cash. She bought two high-end digital camcorders on a smaller auction site, and put them on eBay. Despite a few hicups, she ended up selling both. The problem was that, the second model turned out to be wrong. She had to return the money to the buyer, and ended up having to keep the bad equipment. Needless to say, she lost some cash on the venture.
So remember to use extra caution if you venture onto web auctions other than those hosted by eBay. Check everything over carefully when you get it, and remember to read the fine print. This might also be great advice for users on eBay as well. Even though this site is established and the most popular, there are still problems that can crop up if you don’t pay attention.

Buying and Selling is Easy Using Online Auctions
Online auctions are likely the most accessible, quickest, and easiest means of buying what you want from the comfort of your own home. For those who are always on the go, buying products from online auctions provides them with the most convenient means of shopping for a huge variety of items.
For a number of reasons, a lot of people today find online buying a very convenient way to shop. It has made it possible for people around the world to buy products that would otherwise be difficult to obtain or too expensive to consider. These days, online auctions are so popular that just about everybody has heard of them, and probably even tried them.
Getting Started with Selling
Selling products through an online auction such as eBay is very simple. Simply find a site that appeals to you and register for an account. Although most of these sites are free, you’ll find that some of them charge a fee. Keep in mind, though, that quality sites that charge a fee usually offer service above and beyond the free sites.
Next, you have to decide which items you would like to sell. Get your feet wet by auctioning off some of your stuff that’s just taking up space in the house. Once you have some experience, you might want to start shopping at garage sales, discount stores and factory outlets for merchandise that you can use for eBay online selling.
Before you start selling, carefully read the terms and conditions of the online auction site, and be aware of your responsibilities and potential liabilities. Keep your transactions with your customers as open and honest as possible in order to avoid any problems after the sale.
How to Start Buying
Making a purchase from an online auction is considerably easier than selling your items. Just like setting up a seller account, you must register at the site of your choice before you are allowed to bid on an item that interests you. Before you make a bid, remember to check the credibility and the reviews of the seller. From this information you can predict if the item will meet your expectations and if the shipping process will be satisfactory.
Once you have established the credibility of the seller, it’s time for you to make a bid and hope to get a good price. Set yourself a price limit so that your purchase is worth the money and effort you spent in acquiring it.
Online auctions provide you with better access to the things that you want to buy. When used wisely, it can make shopping so much more convenient.
